Q1.What are the requirements for use (OS/browsers)?
This service can be used on smartphones, tablets, and computers. Please make sure that your device meets the following recommended OS/browser requirements.

■For smartphones or tablets
 Android 14.0 or later: latest version of Google Chrome
 iOS / iPadOS 16.0 or later: latest version of Safari

■For computers
 Windows 10 or later: latest version of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome or Firefox
 macOS 13 or later: latest version of Safari
Q2.What languages are supported?
At present, the following 22 languages are supported.
The language will be set automatically according to your browser's language when you access the service.

Q3.How can I change my language?
  1. Tap the menu button at the upper right of the chat room, and select [Language].
  2. Select the language you would like to use.
Q4.How can I invite participants (guests) to my meeting?
  1. Tap the QR code button on the top bar of the chat room.
  2. The invite QR code will be displayed. Please have the participants scan it using their devices.

<If there are difficulties with scanning the QR code:>
  1. Tap the [Copy URL to clipboard] button.
  2. Send the copied URL to the participants via email or the like.
Q5.How can I send voice messages?
  1. Tap the microphone button.
  2. After the button turns green and "Ready for voice input " appears, speak into the device.
  3. Tap the button again after you have finished speaking.
Q6.I got an error message saying that the microphone cannot be used. How can I make it usable?
Microphone access may be blocked due to browser permission settings.
Please check these settings.

■ iOS Safari:
Open the [Settings] app > [Safari] > [Privacy & Security] > Turn on [Camera & Microphone Access]
■ Android Chrome:
[Settings] > [Advanced] > [Site settings] > [Microphone] > Allow the microphone access for VoiceOn

Q7.The microphone button is not working.
The microphone may not be recognized. Please follow the instructions below to fix it.
  1. Reload the browser.
  2. If the problem still persists, log out and log in, then try again.
Q8.An error message saying "Audio input has ended since the microphone was kept on too long" appeared while I was talking.
After the microphone is kept on for 45 seconds, audio input will end. Please make sure to tap the microphone button again after you have finished speaking.
Please try to speak in shorter sentences and send them one by one to increase translation quality.
Q9.An error message saying “Voice recognition failed. Please try again” appeared.
  1. Microphone access itself may be blocked due to browser permission settings.
    Please check these settings.

    ■ iOS Safari:
    Open [Settings] app > [Safari] > [Privacy & Security] > Turn on [Camera & Microphone Access]
    ■ Android Chrome:
    [Settings] > [Advanced] > [Site settings] > [Microphone] > Allow the microphone access for VoiceOn

  2. Voice recognition may have failed. Please confirm that you are using voice input correctly.
    1) Tap the microphone button.
    2) After the button turns green and "Ready for voice input " appears, speak into the device.
    3) Tap the button again after you have finished speaking.
Q10.My speech is not recognized correctly.
Note that speech may not be recognized correctly in a noisy environment.
Please try again in a quiet place. Please check the location of your device's microphone, and speak near it as clearly as possible.

Please also make sure that the correct language is selected. If you would like to speak in Japanese, the language should be set to Japanese.
Q11.How can I send text messages?
  1. Tap the text input button .
  2. Type the message you would like to translate in the text input field.
  3. Tap the send button on the right side of the input field.
Q12.How can I mute translation audio?
You can turn the audio off by tapping the mute button at the lower left of the chat room.
Please note that the currently playing audio will not be cut off when the mute button is tapped.
Q13.What are Favorites?
Favorites allow you to save phrases and words that you plan to use frequently as is.
Once they have been saved, you can reuse them by simply selecting them from the list and have them be translated into your partner's language, rather than saying the same phrases again and again.
Q14.How can I add a phrase to Favorites?
  1. Tap the Add to Favorites button , which will be shown at the right of your sent messages.
  2. Select the target folder, and then tap the [Add] button to save.

※ You cannot add messages sent by other participants (guests) to Favorites.
※ Please see the User Guide for details on how to edit or delete saved phrases and how to add new folders.
Q15.How can I use the phrases saved in Favorites?
  1. Tap the Favorites button on the top bar of the chat room.
  2. Select the folder in which the phrase you would like to translate is saved.
  3. Tap the send button at the lower left of the phrase.
Q16.What should I do when the conversation has ended?
Please do either of the following when the conversation has ended.

≪Clear the conversation shown on the chat room≫
Tap the Clear Conversation button on the top bar.
※ The invite QR code or URL will not be changed.
※ The guests will not be dismissed from the chat room.
※ The conversation history can be downloaded even after the conversation has been cleared.

≪Change the chat room≫
  1. Tap the Menu button on the top bar.
  2. Tap [Leave].
  3. Tap the [Change room] button.
※ All guests will be dismissed from the chat room.
※ The invite QR code and URL will be changed.
※ Changing the room will erase the entire conversation history. If you need to keep a record of the conversations, please download the conversation history before changing the room.
Q17.Can I retrieve the conversation history?
You can download the conversation history as a CSV file. Please use a computer to do this.

≪Download the conversation history≫
  1. Tap the Menu button on the top bar.
  2. Tap [Download conversation].
  3. Specify the time period for which you would like to download the conversation history, then tap [CSV download].
Q18.Can I change my name or the profile picture shown next to my messages?
You can change your picture and/or nickname as shown below.

  1. Tap the Menu button on the top bar and tap [Account].
  2. Tap the Camera button shown on the icon, then select an image.
  3. Enter a new nickname in the [User name] field.
  4. Tap [Save].
Q19.How can I change my password?
  1. Tap the Menu button on the top bar and tap [Account].
  2. Tap [Change password].
  3. Enter your current password and a new password. (The password must be 6 to 20 alphanumeric characters.)
  4. Tap [Save].
